He coached from 1971 to 1999 at Harwood Union High School and South Burlington High School. In 28 seasons, his teams won 360 games. His teams collected 4 Metro titles, made the playoffs 26 times, made 9 final four appearances, 2 state final game appearances and won 1 state championship. He was named Coach of the Year several times. He was great high school player at Winooski and college player at U. V. M.





Dave Lapointe

He coached from 1961 to 1980 at Orleans High School, Sacred Heart High School of Newport, and Northfield High School. His teams won 279 games and two state championships. He was VT coach of the year twice. He is a Ralph Lapointe award winner and a member of the V.P.A. Hall of Fame. His teams were always known for their defensive intensity. He was a pioneer in the development of basketball camps in Vermont.




Dick Jarvis

He coached from 1993 to 2003 at Vergennes Union High School. In his 10 years, his teams won 164 games. During this time, his teams won 8 league championships, made 4 final four appearances, and won 1 state championship. During his last three years, his teams went 63 and 7 with 3 final four appearances. He was Lake Division Coach of the Year 4 times. He was not only a great coach but has been a friend and supporter to his players.




Gene LeBeau

At Windsor High School, he coached boys’ basketball from 1964 to 1983 and girls’ basketball from 1993 to 1996. His boys’ teams won over 200 games and his girls’ teams were 70-2 over his three years. His 1978 boys’ team was state champs and New England runner-up. His girls’ teams were in the finals from 1993-1996, winning championships in ‘94 and ‘96. He is a former VT - NH All Star Game coach and a member of the Castleton State College Hall of Fame.




John Barth

He coached from 1966 to 1989 at Fair Haven Union High School. In 23 years of coaching, his teams won 318 games, 6 M. V. L. championships, appeared in 4 state championship games, winning 1 state championship. He was named M. V. L. Coach of the Year several times. In 1971, he was named the VT Coach of the Year. He is a former VT-NH All-Star Game coach. He continues to be involved in youth basketball programs today.




Mike Barsalow

He coached from 1952 to 1979 at Woodstock Union High School during which time his teams won 370 games. Throughout his career, his teams never had a losing season. His teams were Southern VT Champs 3 times. Under his reign, the “Four Horsemen” went to the state finals in 1963, 64, 65, winning the championship in 1964 and 65. His teams were always known for their fast break and shooting skills. His was also a very successful football and baseball coach. He passed away in 1980.

He began coaching in 1959 at Kimball Union Academy and since, has coached at Hartford Union High School, Oxbow Union High School, and is currently at Green Mt. Union High School. In his 48 years of coaching, his teams have won over 600 games, more than any boys’ basketball coach in the state. His teams have made 4 final four appearances and a trip to the state finals. He has won several Coach of the Year awards. He is a former coach of the VT-NH All Star Game and past president of the VBCA.





Robert “Stretch” Gillam

He coached from 1968 to 1987 at Bradford Academy and Blue Mt. Union High School. In his 21 years of coaching, his teams won over 300 games. His teams appeared in 9 state championship games and won five of those state championship games. He was VT Coach of the Year in 1972 as well as Coach of the Year in his league many times. He was also a very successful baseball coach.




Ron Brown

She began coaching in 1973 at South Burlington High School. Since then, her teams have won over 400 games. Her teams have amassed 10 Metro championships, 2 Lake division titles, made 19 final four appearances, 8 trips to the finals and have won 5 state titles. She coached the VT - NH All Star Game twice and has won numerous Coach of the Year awards. She is a member of the V. P. A. and the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.




Sheila Burleigh

He coached from 1958 to 1979 at Bellows Falls Union High School and Norwich Free Academy of Connecticut. In 21 years, his teams won 321 games. His Bellows Falls teams won 5 Southern VT championships and were state runner-up twice. His Norwich teams won 7 Capital district championships and were in 3 final fours. He is a member of the Connecticut Basketball Coaches Association, and was named to the Bellows Falls H. S. and Norwich Free Academy Halls of Fame.
